How to Build a Personal Brand as a REALTOR

Establishing a personal brand is key to being successful in real estate in 2023. If you’re new to the industry or even if you’re not, taking time to build your personal brand with intention will be a game changer for you.

You’re gonna want to read this one all the way through because they definitely don’t teach you these things in real estate school.

While personal branding can sometimes seem obscure, I’ve listed out a few key things you can do to get started building your brand.

*While there’s more to it than this, this is a great place to start.

Define Your Brand

Start by thinking about what makes you unique as a REALTOR and what you want your personal brand to represent. This is the part of personal branding that people often skip. It’s what’s behind the curtain. But without taking time to define these things and put it on paper, you’ll always feel lost when it comes to marketing. When thinking about your brand consider your past experiences, your areas of expertise, your unique qualities and passions, interests and hobbies. All of these things make up your personal brand.

Develop a Visual Brand Identity

Your visual brand identity includes your logo, color palette, fonts, etc. You’ll use these things on social media, print materials, signs and swag. These things make you memorable and help you to stand out in your market. Work with a designer to create a visual identity that reflects your personal brand.

Create a Website

The great thing about having a professional website is that you get to control the narrative. When someone Googles you, you want them to be able to find your website easily and go there to build further context about who you are, your areas of expertise, and what it’s like to work with you. Invest in a website that tells your story. Not the typical Wanna Be Zillow site. That’s a NO-GO.

Use Social Media

You don’t need to be everywhere but choose 1-2 platforms that you really want to shine on. Use social media to share educational information about your area and to share who you are as a human being. This is going to allow your audience to begin to build a relationship with you, and it makes it easier for them to reach out to you anytime they have a real estate need.

Network and Build Relationships

Building relationships with other professionals in your field and with potential clients can be an important part of establishing your personal brand. Attend industry events, join professional organizations and make an effort to connect with others in your field in your own market and especially beyond. Building a strong network will help you increase your credibility and bring about opportunities you may have never imagined.

Establishing your personal brand doesn’t happen overnight but with focus and a plan, you can build a memorable brand that people will talk about over and over again. Remember, it’s never about “selling a house”. It’s always about building an army of people who are willing to say your name first anytime the topic of real estate comes up because when that’s the case, you never have to worry about the next deal. #thedream
